Casting Director’s note
Audition Day 1
IT’S D-DAY! After what felt like ages of preparing and anticipating, the big day was finally here! I promised myself that I would go to bed early and get enough sleep, but of course, that didn’t happen. I was up until well past 2 AM and wide awake at the butt-crack of dawn. It felt like I was auditioning instead of evaluating the auditions! I was excited and nervous… I can’t wait to put faces to names that have signed up and see what they got. But also, there’s a little voice inside that kept saying, “What if they don’t show up?”
Alas, it is but a little voice inside, because… well, you guys showed up! All 84 of your brilliant minds, bodies, and souls! I was so stoked to see so many of you coming in bright and early. It sure looks like y’all are ready to take the auditions by storm.
And BOY, did you rock it! I was so surprised (and quite pleasantly so) by the amount of enthusiasm and talent that graced the audition room. So many of you came in really shy and sweet, but when you started singing, you blew us all away like
I am beyond ecstatic with the turn up of the first day of auditions. You guys made the long hours and super-short bathroom worthwhile and I couldn’t wait to see more of you the next day. Bring on day two!
Audition Day Two
Now I say that the first day was fun –and it was (Believe me.) But I think it’s also important to note that it was one hell of a long day. By the end of it, everyone was just like
But that’s nothing a good sleep and a good cup of coffee can’t fix! The next day, everyone showed up as pumped and ready as ever. Day two covered the dance auditions, which is all the more exciting because as Lin Manuel “Wise Man” Miranda once said, “It’s gon’ get hot and heavy!”
By this point, I’d been thinking, “Oh, sh*t. How am I going to cast these people?!” You guys were amazing, and even without any dance background, you gave it your all and then some. I was floored by your efforts. But apparently (and unfortunately) my thinking face made me look like
Our two days of auditions have been terrific and I’m forever grateful that I’m able to share that experience with you guys. The thought of sitting down to actually pick and choose people to cast seems kind of nightmarish to me (I’m the most indecisive person ever!) but I also can’t wait to get started on working, singing, dancing, and acting with you!
